Jeez, I blink my eyes and it's THREE days later!

As you see, Blogger has a new "check box" option to rate your posts. This sets up the possibility of people fictionalizing their entries just so the get good grades.

How do you folks feel about this?

If you respond you have two options: use your keyboard to manually type your response, thus telling me exactly what's on your mind. Or, check one of the generic boxes below...

If I weren't balance challenged I'd get a bike like this.

Friday, December 18, 2009...Dance Your Ass Off.

I just got done watching "Dance Your Ass Off" while eating lunch.

The contestants in this show start out chubby, and compete for the biggest weight loss. In the website's words: "Twelve finalists, nearly 3,000 lbs, one goal -- to go from an eating machine to a dancing machine..."

While watching it, I took what they said about living as a fat person as true.

But, how do I know that they're being honest!?!? Afterall, the show needs ratings to survive. Maybe the show's producers secretly script the show, and market as reality to get ratings?

If this is how it really is, we'll have a generation growing up thinking that fiction is true. And their lives will mimic this false reality. In short time, we'll be living in a world created humans...

There's a sci-fi novel in this idea somewhere!

I wish I would've known about these bikes when my daughter was a little one. Bikes like this are a very nice thing to see. My best friend Mike is having a baby - well, actually, his wife Phyllis is doing the hard work, but you know what I mean. I'm definitely going to recommend one for him and his future tyke.

Who'swhatwinswhat?

My daughter, Veronica, likes to invent her own, sometimes very peculiar, games.

For example, I just got done playing one of her games called "Who'swhatwinswhat".

This game is played with two people. One person closes their eyes and, at the same time, makes their limbs limp. The other person manipulates the limp person's limbs to whatever position the other person wants. For example, while my eyes were closed, I felt my hand mess up my hair and my finger go up my nose.

The manipulator tells the limp person when they can open their eyes. It's very important to be visibly embarrassed by your new position.

The manipulator then counts to ten. Whoever says the phrase "Who'swhatwinswhat" first wins, and gets to be the manipulator.

I honestly have no clue where she got the phrase "who'swhatwinswhat", but I have to admit it's a very creative phrase for a very creative game

It's all about simplicity!

I hope the new look of my blog doesn't startle anybody.

I just want to keep it as basic as I can. I'd love to find a way to change the bar above to plain black.

Also, typewriter font would be cool.

I should keep this blog open on my desktop to remind me to write in it. Now, excuse as I go watch my daughter play some video games...

Sunday, November 1, 2009 [Salvation Army Recruits]

My awesome wife Allyson volunteered the Carter family to be Salvation Army bellringers.

So, if you're a Festival Foods friday, November 27, bring a lot of money to shove in our cute red containers!

2nd post

I'm definitely going to be way more diligent about blog entry publishing.

When people publish blogs, they're really living publicly. VERY publicly!!!

I'm sure that there are many people that fictionalize their blogs to make it seem more interesting. But I'm going to take the Henry Miller/Aaron Cometbus approach, and try to live an interesting life so my blog will be more interesting.
***

Well, today was a pretty uneventful day. I spent 3:59 hours on my exercise trike, and went 58.6 miles.

I'm now the proud owner of a Schwinn 240 recumbent exercise bike. My old Schwinn exercise bike is now sitting, totally burned-out and dilapidated in my garage. I hope I don't burn the new one out so quickly.
***

I'm definitely not going to bore my gentle readers by posting endless bike-stats like I've been doing lately. I'll just keep it simple with one sentence featuring the two major ride stats: time and distance.

Also, I've been inventing destinations so I can come up with a legitimate distance. For example, today I rode 12.4 miles to a restaurant in Menasha called Nauts Landing for a cup of coffee.

From there, I rode 15.1 miles to read some magazines at the Oshkosh Public Library.

I then rode 25 miles to St. Peters Lutheran church in Fond du lac to say a word of prayer...

Wednesday, October 14, 2009 - first post...

Hello,

I hope my gentle readers weren't overly alarmed by my long abscence. I haven't published any blog-entries since September... I'm a bit disappointed in myself for being such a slacker.

I'm not going to bore you with my repeated exercise log-entries. I'll probably just have one daily total.

I rode that thing so much that I wore it out, and got a new one: Schwinn 240.

This guy is inspiring:
He competed in a 412 bike race across South Dakota called GutCheck 2-12.
It was a pretty amazing feat considering that He's got chronic back pain and Ulcerative Colitis (an inflammatory bowel disease).
Plus, he did it on a recumbent trike!

Surly bikes

If I wasn't balance-deficient, and could ride a two wheel velocipede, I'd consider getting a Surly...

Saturday, September 12, 2009

II was watching some intense LPGA (i.e.girly golf) while riding my Schwinn recumbent exercise bike.

During the commercial break a very clever ad for American Express was shown:

It showed bunch of happy faces made by accident in a normal house. For example, it showed an iron's electric chord laid across a shirt on an ironing board. The buttons from the shirt made the eyes, and the chord made the smile.

I looked for the commercial on YouTube so I could send it to everyone I know, but, luckily, couldn't find it.

However, it struck me: If the said marketers knew a guy who, at one time, carried a badge of anti-corporate, anti-commercialism was going to send his loved ones this ad, they'd probably give themselves high fives of success!

Love,
Cullen

p.s. AMERICAN EXPRESS, AMERICAN EXPRESS, AMERICAN EXPRESS, AMERICAN EXPRESS, AMERICAN EXPRESS, AMERICAN EXPRESS, AMERICAN EXPRESS, AMERICAN EXPRESS, AMERICAN EXPRESS, AMERICAN EXPRESS, AMERICAN EXPRESS, AMERICAN EXPRESS, AMERICAN EXPRESS, AMERICAN EXPRESS, AMERICAN EXPRESS, AMERICAN EXPRESS, AMERICAN EXPRESS, AMERICAN EXPRESS, AMERICAN EXPRESS, AMERICAN EXPRESS, AND AMERICAN EXPRESS!
p.p.s. Do you think it's working?

I like the line, "I hope my bike takes you straight to hell."

Here's a good website that has a very enlightened view of the government's "cash for clunkers" program

Old school?

I just horrified my daughter by putting a Dag Nasty cd in the boombox. I haven't heard it in years.

It made me want to look for other old-school punk cds I have (i.e. Minor Threat, Descendents, etc.).

I remember buying some of those when they were just released, and it astounds me that, to many folks, they're considered old-school punk.
Here's a really good cycling link:

www.mapmyride.com

You can use it to find cycling rides/routes in your area...
I'd like to apologize for my severe lack of blog entries. I'll try to stay on top of it.

I'm happy that some of you are impressed with my daily cycling stats. Here's more:

Just so I can guarantee that I have something written in this blog everyday, and because I ride my recumbent exercise bike daily, I'm going to start posting my ride stats. I hope it doesn't annoy people. Actually, I hope people are awestruck by it!

&&&&&&&&&&&&&&
I'm love cycling so much that I'm thinking of growing a handlebar
mustache as symbolic proof.

However, I'd like to give it a brand name. I'm unfamiliar with the
best bicycle handlebars, so I need suggestions.

When people compliment me - IF they ever do - I'd like to say, "Thank
you very much," and, then, pointing at my mustache with both fingers,
"Why it's a [insert brand name here] mustache!"

p.s. I'm sorry it's been so long (years ?) since my last post. Blogging is a good way to keep living in other people's minds. I hope you didn't think I was dead...

p.s. I just notice I could make labels for my posts. This is a great new option for me to abuse!
